MiniKazit Info page
MiniKazit is a live CD image, small enough to fit into a MiniCD (180M).
MiniKazit is based on Morphix, base module version 0.4-1e and Debian Sid.
It includes: XFCE Desktop 4.0.6, Mozilla Firefox browser 0.9.1, AbiWord 2.0.7cvs, Gaim 0.8 and some more goodies, games and tools. To view the full package list click here.
MiniKazit MiniCD will be available for purchase for very small burning/printing fees during the August Penguin events. It will also be available for download from Berlios very soon.

installation to hard drive:
• Requires ~510M of free partition
• If you dislike GUI installers and like 'Expert mode' use debootstrap! :P
post installation:
• Uncomment the sources you want in /etc/apt/sources.list and run apt-get update
• There is no xdm/gdm/kdm installed, so the login is textual after installation.
• There is no file manager/navigator installed, only MidnightCommander. So you might want to install Konqueror/Nautilus.
• Some files were changed/zeroed in order to fit to minicd so I suggest executing the following command: dpkg-query -W --showformat='${Package}\n' | xargs apt-get -y --reinstall install
• You should be able to install grub by yourself. Installation works great for me but some people reported problems with automated grub settings in the past.
Info for developers who might want to remaster/morph Mini-kazit
MiniKazit can be a nice minimal start for your own Morphix remaster (I would surly like to have something like this two days ago). That's why I'm writing this, in case someone wants to use it.
Some files in the following locations have been zeroed:
/usr/share/doc/ - we surly don't need all this
/usr/share/i18n/, /usr/share/i18n/locales/ - we need only the he,en,ar,ru.
/usr/share/locales/, /usr/share/man/, /usr/share/zoneinfo/ - same.
Some Hebrew/Israel related packages you might want to remove if you're not from around:
bidiv, culmus, culmus-fancy, hspell, internet, internetdb, iwiz, idial, katoob.
Ok, now go play nice,
Shlomil.
